Team Leader – Piece Parts Stores
Role Overview:
The Day Shift Team Leader plays a dual role as a hands-on operator and team leader. Responsible for guiding and motivating the team, ensuring operational excellence, and driving continuous improvement within the Piece parts areas. The role requires proactive problem-solving, cross-functional collaboration, and a commitment to safety and quality.
Reporting to: Stores Supervisor
Shift Pattern: Days ( Monday – Thursday 07:00-16:00 and Friday 07:00-11:00)
Key Responsibilities:

- Kits picked
- Shortages
- FLT breakdowns
- Accidents/Incidents
- FLT Downtime
Team Leadership & Operations:
- Lead daily shift operations to meet daily/weekly production plan.
- Lead daily team briefs to the goods in team, discussing H&S & delivery issues.
- Ensure FLTs are operational and charged.
- Ensure all drivers carry out their pre-use checks.
- Monitor team and individual performance for accuracy and efficiency.
- Address and resolve operational issues promptly.
- Enforce all company processes and procedures daily, dealing with conduct issues promptly.
- Time and Attendance
- Assisting with any stock discrepancies / stock rotation
- Oil Tank Levels audit Weekly and order when required
- Scrap removal/Collections
Safety & Compliance:
- Conduct risk assessments and safety tours.
- Ensure team compliance with H&S procedures and documentation (WMS, MHE, inventory control).
- Report Accidents, Incidents, Near miss and unsafe conditions immediately.
- Carry out SHE investigations in a timely manner with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
Training & Development:
- Train new and existing team members to close skills gaps and enhance performance.
- Maintain and update skills matrix creating a 3:1, 1:3 cross training flexibility ratio.
- Manage attendance and provide cover for holidays and absences.
- Conduct return-to-work, investigation and disciplinary interviews.
Continuous Improvement & Collaboration:
- Participate in CI projects to improve safety, quality, efficiency, and ergonomics.
- Collaborate with H&S, Production, Quality, Engineering, and Manufacturing Engineering teams to solve problems and implement solutions.
- Support trials and commissioning of new tooling/equipment.
Performance Targets:
- H&S: Ensure the area is 100% safety tour compliant.
- Quality: Ensure inventory accuracy, correct part identification, and damage prevention.
- Cost: Promote optimised storage and waste reduction.
- Delivery: Ensure timely material provision and efficient dispatch.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Experience in a leadership role within a production or stores environment.
- Counterbalance License is essential. It is desirable if candidates have Reach Truck License and Order Picker License.
- IOSH certified.
- ILM Level 3 qualification.
- Skilled in motivating, training, and coaching teams.
- Strong understanding of inventory and warehouse operations.
- Familiarity with CI/Lean tools (5S, TPM, Kaizen) and problem-solving methods (e.g., 5 Why’s).
- Excellent communication, organisation, and PC skills.
- Resilient, flexible, and action-oriented with a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Able to work on one’s own initiative with minimum supervision
- Flexibility to overtime when needed, sometimes at short notice
- An awareness of HS&E (Health, Safety and Environmental) requirements within a Stores/Logistics environment.
