Brian Kamau Appointed Thwaites Engineering Manager.

Thwaites are pleased to confirm that Brian Kamau has been appointed as Engineering Manager, succeeding Bob McElvogue who has left the organisation.

Brian joins Thwaites at an exciting time, with three brand new products, the 9-tonne forward tip ‘Rotator’ and two compact, fully electric machines to be launched on the market.
This in addition to the factory expansion which opens this autumn that will enable increased productivity and performance.

The Life of Brian.
Brian graduated from Staffordshire University with a BSc in Motor Sport Engineering.
His first role saw him join Douglas Equipment, designing aviation towing tractors, within 4-years becoming the Engineering Group lead in the UK.

Seeking broader experience, Brian transitioned to Lister Shearing as Head of Engineering, where he took on additional responsibilities in quality control and manufacturing processes—an experience he describes as invaluable and one that continues to influence his approach today.
Most recently, at Godwin Pumps, Brian was responsible for designing large centrifugal pumps.

The Thwaites Move.
Brian initially joined Thwaites as a consultant project manager, leading the development of the 9-tonne Rotator from concept to readying for market launch.

When the opportunity arose to step into the role of Engineering Manager, Brian saw Thwaites as the perfect fit—a company with a strong heritage yet an innovative approach to the future.

Brian’s qualifications and CV clearly demonstrate an affinity with vehicles. He appreciates brands that have a rich history yet can grow and develop their product offer further.

In his new role Brian will have three primary responsibilities:Firstly to ensure manufacturing compliance, secondly to develop the engineering capability and team and thirdly to drive continuous product improvement in quality and customer satisfaction.

A firm believer in strong business principles and a collaborative approach. Brian’s philosophy starts with being committed and putting the business first. Then inspiring teamwork to achieve shared goals whilst listening to end users, to ensure Thwaites machine solutions add value…with a final critical philosophical behaviour of meeting deadlines and honouring commitments.

Family Life of Brian.
Married with two children aged four and one, leaves little time for hobbies and pastimes. Interestingly Brian once appeared on the BBC One Show as amateur portrait artist of the year, a pencil drawing of his brother being judged runner up in this national competition.

Thwaites welcomes Brian to the business and looks forward to the next chapter in the company’s 88-year-old history.
