Three Debuting Dumpers for Thwaites at Bauma 2025.
At Bauma 2025 Thwaites will be showing a selection of six machine solutions.
Visitors to the Thwaites stand will get their first look at three debuting dumpers.
Taking centre stage will be:
1) Electric 2-tonne Hi-Swivel
2) 6-tonne ROPS+ Power Swivel
3) 9-tonne ‘Rotator’
In addition to the Thwaites ‘staples’ of:
T450 power swivel: https://www.thwaitesdumpers.co.uk/dumpers/4-5-tonne/
1.5-tonne power swivel: https://www.thwaitesdumpers.co.uk/dumpers/1-5-tonne/
1-tonne Hi-Tip: https://www.thwaitesdumpers.co.uk/dumpers/1-tonne/
The Thwaites team of Export Account Managers Julie Day and Dave Webster will be joined by UK Distributor Managers Will Redman and Paul Rodwell. The team will be joined by General Sales Manager Andy Sabin for the weeklong show.

Electric Avenue.

Launching later this summer the 2-tonne electric dumper will join the 3-tonne machine to create a range of compact, eco-alternative powered machines.
The machines have both been designed with contractors and hirers in mind, offering the same build quality, robust design and engineering excellence that is ubiquitous across the Thwaites range.
Thwaites General Sales Manager, Andy Sabin said, “As the demand for cleaner alternative fuel sources grows, we are keen to ensure we offer a quality product that delivers for our customers, their clients and the environment”.
The machine is driven by a 22-kWh maintenance free, long life, lithium-ion (dry cell) battery pack operating at 48V. With two highly efficient electric motors (one for traction, one for the hydraulic services) giving the operator the control and manoeuvrability expected from a Thwaites dumper.
The electric drive dumper has a similar unladen weight when compared to the diesel/hydrostatic version. The main battery pack and driveline components, now sit low in the rear chassis, lowering the centre of gravity when compared to the hydrostatic drive machine, further improving machine stability.
Critically, the battery pack will complete a full 8-hour working day from a single charge.
The standard on-board 3kW battery charger can charge the pack from 0-100% in 8hrs (three phase). Optional fast charger will charge the machine from 20 to 80 % in less than 50 minutes.

Andy Sabin concluded “We are delighted to be able to offer this all electric 2-tonne Hi-Swivel dumper for consideration at this year’s Bauma. The machine will provide for the rental markets around the world, a cleaner, quieter, alternative, giving contractors options to use the machine in more urban refurbishment settings. In addition, the new, all electric dumper is compliant with the growing number of countries, authorities and bodies that operate low emission zones”.
ROPS+…A Serious Safety Solution Shows at Bauma 2025.

On February 1st, 2025, the changing manufacturing standard EN474 2022: part 1 & 6 came into effect.
Part 1: Mandates that front mounted dumpers with an operating weight more than 4,500kg will be manufactured with a ROPS & FOPS cab protection
Part 6: States that front mounted dumpers “With an operating mass of over 3,500 kg & under 4,500kg shall be provided with an additional means, to prevent the operator from being ejected from the overall dimensions of the machine in the event of a machine tip-over or roll-over.”
Thwaites dumpers in the 1-tonne to 4.5-tonne range are below the threshold and unaffected by the new standard. Dumpers in the 6-tonne and 9-tonne range however are affected.
To comply with the standard, the Thwaites 9-tonne Front Tip dumper will be offered exclusively fully cabbed.
The 6-tonne Power Swivel and Front Tip dumpers will now be offered with two fully compliant solutions.
Option 1: A Fully Cabbed Dumper
Option 2: Fitted with ROPS+.
Many contractors and hirers inform Thwaites that they prefer an ‘open dumper’ hence this designed and developed solution now offers an alternative option, ROPS+.

ROPS+ is an extension of the Roll Over Protection System, (ROPS). Made from the same high tensile steel, the wrap around design places the operator in the optimum position to minimise risk, should a machine roll over occur.
The latch bar is pulled over and locked into position in front of the operator. The seat must be sat on and the seat belt must be worn, with both having safety sensors that prevent any workarounds.
The machine will start, but not drive, until the ‘Triple Lock’ of:
1) Operator sat on seat.
2) Operators seat belt fastened across the waist.
3) Operator deploys the overhead bar.
The following additional value has been designed into ROPS+:
- An additional handle when mounting the dumper, further reduces the risk of slips and falls.
- A padded panel to right and left of the operator, provides further upper body protection, with the rear box completing the all-around safeguard.
- The engine cover has been reinforced to accommodate the weight of the ROPS+ ensuring the integrity of the design.
- A rear-view camera giving the operator 360-degree visibility.
With Thwaites ROPS+ customers will be safe and compliant; operators will be protected. ROPS+ is available now via the Thwaites distributor network.

The Thwaites ROTATOR.
The ROTATOR is a new 9-tonne Dumper that gives the operator a rotating position enabling 360-degree Visibility from the safest seat on site.

Showing for the first time at Bauma the machine has been designed by renowned Thwaites engineers and built by the expert UK manufacturing team. The Rotator will further reduce risk on site, improve productivity whilst delivering the safest, dumper operator experience.
What’s in a Name.
The word ROTATOR is a palindrome, (a word that reads the same forwards as it does backwards). The unique function of this Thwaites dumper is to operate the same way (as safely) forwards as it does backwards. All enabled by the operator position that can now Rotate…

Operator Optics:
The cab design includes a 180-degree rotating seat configuration, integrated cameras and adjustable mirrors all of which significantly improve operator visibility and performance in every onsite setting and situation.
Safety Systems:
The ROTATOR cab design is equipped with seat presence switch logic. Limit switches ensure the operator seat is always securely engaged, locking out all drive and control functions until so.
Tilt sensors will alert the operator audibly and visually, ahead of time, when it is safe to tip, depending on the gradient.
The machine has two, permanent fixed, green and amber flashing indicator beacons on both sides of the upper cab structure and roof respectively.

Operator Comfort:
The significant, large and spacious cab offers access through left and right sided doors, with easy seat access and best in class rotation, this ergonomically designed cab is built with operators in mind.
The ROTATOR comes, in addition to the panoramic glazed cab, with a host of features such as, air conditioning, improved leg room, enhanced seat comfort and intuitive hydrostatic control.
Machine Performance:
Front or rear tip dumpers are easily and safely loaded, with a straightforward tipping action that places the full bucket of spoil exactly where it is required.
Full oscillation & articulation enables superior control which is further advanced by a robust hydrostatic drive control.
Powered by a 3.6L Deutz turbo engine which is fitted with a DPF which is compliant with EU Stage V emission regulations.
The engine delivers 55.4Kw of peak power with 405 Nm of torque with a noise level below 101Db (A).
The performance of the ROTATOR (during the machines warranty period) will be managed by the Thwaites telemetry system, enabling lead indicator alerts of any unscheduled activities, which may cause the machine potential and costly harm, or compromise safety and or performance.
User Friendly Maintenance.
Electric in cab warning lights for coolant and oil level reduce the burden of daily checks. A sensor acts as an electronic dipstick alerting the need for top up.
The ROTATOR cab allows for access to the engine for further checks, via a hinged floor plate.
A further service hatch is situated in the front cover to check fuel filters, air filters and the fuel pump.
For further engine and chassis access, additional removable hatches give service teams the space to work safely and efficiently.
All to simplify maintenance tasks reducing downtime and maintenance costs.
